Interesting side question: Do they even know HOW to kill Roger? I know convergent evolution has given him a similar external structure to humans, but who’s to say his head is anything more than a convenient sensory turret with the truly vital bits in deeper, more protected zones?
Hmm. Interesting point. In theory if you take any large organism and hit it with things for long enough, you’ll probably succeed in killing it. I don’t actually know a lot about Roger’s internal anatomy, though he must have a skeleton and pressurized internal fluids and a respiratory system like we do, based on his size and that he can breathe our air. I don’t think the New Youth are opposed to a little experimentation in this area. Though you’re right, there’s ample opportunity for them to screw this up.
Oh, no, the little girl is next! Quick, get some sympathy going! And Roger can talk to his Lawyer? Wow, he’s got all the tricks up his sleeve! (I highly doubt one teenager can take him out so easily…)
I’m kind of shocked that Roger didn’t just bust out laughing after that speech. Kind of hard to keep a straight face when it encapsulates every single radical uprising ever. Usually right before heads start rolling.
He did snark at them with that “I’ll be talking to my lawyer about this!” line.
Heh – the nationalists might be the old guard in this brave new era, but I bet they still got some hearts and minds along with the big guns. I won’t let you walk over my precious nation state! 😀
Democratic Japan is still a nation with its own government, army, police, institutions, and loyal citizenry. Despite facing a lot of setbacks in the 22nd century, it won’t go down without a fight. Neither will any of the others.
