It may not be clear from the brief chance you have to see it, but the president is holding a segment of bamboo that the letter was delivered in. This was apparently the usual method of mail delivery in Mughal India. When you think about it, it’s a pretty good way of keeping your mail safe from damage. Maybe Canada Post should consider adopting the idea.
