A Mad Tea-Party 224
Social media to the rescue! When I started writing this story Facebook and Twitter didn’t exist, and no phone had more than 14 buttons. I’ve been very carefully inserting more and more connectivity into the plot since it became clear which way the world was headed. For example, Jackson’s smart phone was designed before the iphone, which is why it’s the size of a credit card. Man I’ve been working on this story a long time!
The thing is, though, that social media translate FANTASTICALLY into comics form. I think it’s much easier to include texting, the internet, or what have you seamlessly into a comic than into film. I plan to take full advantage of this in all future comics.
“Listen to me or my parents will literally gun down all your friends” seems like a pretty persuasive argument to me.
It’s kind-of hard to see who’s talking where, you might want to add a slightly different “fading” look to the speech-bubbles that are coming from the background. Took me forever to notice what the heck was going on -that he’s texting while the mock-trial continues.
It’s true. I think this page will work a lot better in print than it does as a weekly update. Fortunately, that’s all the cross-talk you have to put up with for a while.
I like how your story is evolving!
Thanks!
